Ripple Unveils Its Enterprise-Level Crypto Solution Liquidity Hub

Robinhood, a top trading platform, announced Tuesday that nearly 1.6 million people have already been placed on the waitlist to receive its cryptocurrency wallet. Christine Brown, Chief Operating Officer of the company, stated that the number is almost 1.6 million more than the 1 million figure posted a few weeks back.

It is expected to launch in the first quarter 2022. This will allow Robinhood users move virtual currencies into and out of their accounts. The executive didn’t provide any further information during the conference jointly held by Yahoo! and Decrypt. Finance.

Robinhood announced last week that it now supports Directed Stock Programs (DSPs), through IPO Access. This service allows retail investors the ability to purchase shares at the IPO prices. This feature allows the company to reserve a certain amount of IPO shares for a particular group. Robinhood said that the platform will then distribute these shares to selected individuals through the program.

Data Breach

The platform was still in trouble on Sunday, however, after a data breach was reported. According to reports, it occurred on November 3 and resulted in the disclosure of personal information of millions of customers.

The attacker has obtained email addresses for 5 million Robinhood customers, and full names of 2 million more customers. A small number of customers, which included their name, date and zip codes, were also exposed.

The platform stated that no social security numbers, bank account numbers or debit card numbers were disclosed without causing financial loss. The announcement said that “We are currently making the appropriate disclosure to affected persons.” After the intrusion was stopped, the attacker requested a payment from the trading platform.

The platform reported the breach already to law enforcement. Mandiant, a third-party security company, is currently investigating the breach.
